A High-Profile coalition of Australian Church Groups are aiming to put poverty on the natioanl agendat. A few weeks ago they launched the Vote One – No More Poverty campaign, which aims to encourage people to make poverty an election issue this year. The No More Poverty website says that 3.6 million Australians live on a household income of $400 or lessper week which if true makes a pretty big underclass, obviously left behind by the economic boom. Father Jo Caddy is the chair of Catholic Welfare Australia, one of the groups forming the group Christian Community Services Against Poverty, and he talked to Neil Smart about the No More Poverty Initiative.
