One in three people live in rural, regional and remote parts of the country, yet social service organisations say the poor in rural areas are getting left behind. Rural communities are experiencing greater levels of poverty than their city counterparts, and there are many facets to the problem, including less access to employment opportunities, education, and, importantly, health services.
