The federal budget proposed by Treasurer Scott Morrison on Tuesday, has neglected postgraduate students once again. With very limited and competitive allowances to live, Australians studying a coursework or a research degree do not have support from the government for now. But not is all bad news.

The government is committed to implement the Research Infrastructure Investment Strategy with $4.1 billion over the next decade. The government is yet to announce how the funding will be distributed, but it could be a path to support postgraduate research students.

The Council of Australian Postgraduate Associations is campaigning to bring students back to the national agenda.
