The latest population forecast by the Australia Institute show the nation is the third fastest growing in the OECD. Every year we are adding 400,000 to the population, or in other terms a new Canberra each year. This level of growth requires budget funding to be directed towards services and infrastructure to ensure roads, hospitals and schools can cope with a significant increase in numbers. However, the issue of population growth isn’t high on the public or political agenda.
