It’s been a busy year in political donations legislation. In March, the Federal Government passed legislation allowing donations to political parties and candidates of up to $10,000 to remain off the record. In the meantime, developers have been identified in numerous investigations into government corruption. Recently, Democrats Senator Andrew Murray put forward a motion to prohibit donations from developers to political parties and candidates. It was voted down in the Senate following strong opposition by Labor, the Coalition and Family First. Max Lavergne spoke to Crikey.com.au’s Christian Kerr and asked him if those parties were among those who received significant donations from developers.
