Last Thursday, hundreds of thousands of protesters poured onto the streets of  Venezuela’s capital Caracas in an attempt to voice their discontent about the current government.

The protesters are calling for a recall referendum which would end President Nicolas Maduro’s reign.

Venezuela is a petrostate and has been thrown into economic and political turmoil as the price of oil plummets.
