Police shootings in NYC raise concerns
Over the weekend, Sean Bell, an African American man, who was due to get married that day, was shot dead by police, just after he and two friends left a nite club in the early hours of the morning. While the Mayor of New York, Michael Bloomberg, has promised a full investigation, community remainds concerned that justice may not prevail. Police are also able to seek protection from a law that gives them explicit right to use deadly force if they believe their lives are in danger. Mayor Bloomberg gave reporters his response to the shootings earlier in the week and executive director of Black Cops Against Police Brutality, De Lacy Davis, outlined his concerns.
