Police culture is being questioned after shocking footage aired

Shocking CCTV footage went to air this week of Melbourne police beating a mentally ill disability pensioner last September.

This footage has questioned Australia’s police force culture and also the amount of force which is acceptable when police are responding to callouts.

Lauren Caulfield is the Advocacy officer of the Police Accountability Project, a specialist public interest legal project based Victoria taking the lead in police accountability law and strategies.

The Wire asked Ms. Caulfield what her reaction was to the story and what is being done about this issue.
