Plenty of mudslinging at the US mid-term elections

And staying with the US midterm election, set to take place tomorrow, Republicans and Democrats have been spending up big to try and sell their candidates up to the last minute. This election in fact has been the most expensive in history, with a total of 2 billion US dollars spent on advertising in the campaign. And this year, less money is being spent on selling candidates, and more on destroying opponents with negative advertising. And observers have expressed concern with some of the ads, particularly in the tight Tenessee race, where there’s been accusations of racism. One person well positioned to observe this is John Geer, a professor in Political Science at Vandervilt University in Nashville, Tenessee, discussed the negative tone of the campaign.
