Pensioners and unemployed fight for slice of budget funds

Welfare groups are fighting for increases to both pensions and unemployment benefits in this months Budget. Pensioners have been pushing hard for a rise in the aged pension of $30 per week, but that increase is now in doubt. And given estimates of 1 million unemployed by next year, welfare groups there are also calling for an increase in basic dole payments which are currently well below the poverty line.
