A new Oxfam report says women’s rights in Afghanistan have made some breakthroughs since the U.S-led invasion in 2001. Women are faring better in school attendance, but the report highlights that many Afghans still consider women’s rights as a foreign-import.

The report warned that women could be worse off after the withdrawal of foreign troops if the Karzai government continued to barter with the Taliban.Others dispute whether the presence of foreign troops in the country really is of any benefit to women.
