Community sector workers sang danced and chanted across the country today in flash mobs and community events to mark a national day of action for equal pay. In April this year, Industrial Umpire Fair Work Australia handed down an historic decision that community sector workers were underpaid because they work in an industry largely occupied by women. Now those same workers are campaigning to pressure state governments to honour the decision by increasing funding to the not for profit sector so they can deliver pay rises without having cut jobs and services.
