Parents watch out – in a new proposal to extend quarantining of welfare payments, parents in WA – and possibly the rest of the country if this trial is successful – will have their income quarantined if their kids don’t go to school. And if you’re idenitifed by the child protection agency as not looking after your kids, complusory income management by Centrelink will apply to your welfare payment. But will this new trial work? Catherine Zengerer asked Sue Ash, CEO of WACOSS, West Australia’s peak body for social services, how they responded to the proposed trial.
