This week Queensland’s Palaszczuk Government passed a bill to restore community’s rights to object to mining lease applications, overturning legislation passed by the Newman LNP government last year. The LNP’s controversial laws limited objections to immediate neighbours and local councils. The Labor Minister for Mines, Anthony Lynham, said the new bill was about honouring an election commitment and restoring rights the previous government had stripped away.
