A controversial protest is set to take place outside the state memorial service planned for the late media mogul, Kerry Packer. Sydney-based activist group “Eat the Rich” say taxpayers shouldn’t be lumbered with a bill for the service, given the man was worth over $7 billion. They also claim that the service glorifies Packer’s contribution to Australia while evading more controversial issues surrounding his business activities like tax evasion and the concentration of media ownership. Featuring first Peter McGregor – activist and organiser of “Eat The Rich” and then Macquarie University historian and biographer of Sir Frank Packer, Dr Bridget Griffen-Foley.
