Oxfam study highlights ongoing humanitarian crisis in Iraq

International focus in Iraq has been on removing the threat of an instable government. But the bigger threat is the impact 4 years of conflict have had on Iraqi citizens. According to the Oxfam report “rising to the humanitarian crisis in Iraq” 8 million people require emergency aid – with little to no food, shelter or money. The Iraq government has set up task forces for recontruction, but there are no official mechamisms to deal with basic human needs.NGOs are struggling with the sheer number of those effected, and are in need of broader international support.
