Oxfam Lifts the Lid on Sweatshop Transparency

Pacific Brands have sparked a fair amount of criticism when they recently announced the sacking of 1850 of its workers for cost purposes. And the release of Oxfam’s latest report today about the company’s concern for their overseas working conditions will be even less likely to win them any friends. It says that the transparency in revealing information about their factories is practically non-existent. In spite of this, Pacific Brands have said that they are all for the protection of their workers’ rights, but Oxfam says the only way to combat the problem of sweatshop labour exploitation is to be completely open about it.
