Outrage over North Korea, silence on other nuclear weapon stockpiles

The nations of the world are lining up to condemn North Korea, following news of its first weapons nuclear test. Leading the war of words is the United States, which is proposing sanctions against North Korea. However, little attention is being paid to the enormous stockpiles held by other nuclear states and the meager efforts being made to reduce the numbers of warheads in existence. Norman Solomon is the executive director of the Institute for Public Accuracy and the author of “War made easy: how presidents and pundits keep spinning us to death”. He outlined why he feels the US is partially to blame for North Korea’s provocative move.
