With recent films such as FAHRENHEIT 9/11 and Control Room, one might think criticising the US administration and US media is the ‘flavour of the month’. But whilst FAHRENHEIT 9/11 focused on the lack of transparency in the Bush Administration, Robert Greenwald’s new film ‘Outfoxed’, is critical of the Rupert Murdoch-owned Fox News Channel – accusing it of tailoring its coverage to back President Bush and failing to be honest about its agenda. The film has been sponsored by the liberal advocacy groups Moveon.org (an organisation aiming to bring ordinary people back into politics) and the Centre for American Progress. It claims Fox reporters were instructed to take a pro-war, pro-bush approach over the last two years. The film’s director, Robert Greenwald, describes the news channel as merely ‘Entertaining Opinion’. As yet it’s unclear whether Outfoxed will be released in Australia.
