48 million dollars from the federal budget has been earmarked for the Outback Stores Initiative, to bring fresh fruit and vegetables to remote areas, with hopes that improved health will follow. The plan was proposed by National Indigenous Council member and Indigenous Business Australia Chief, Joseph Elu. He says the program will be introduced wherever it’s needed, but only with support from the local community.
