Orica charged with over 200 offences at Gladstone

The Queensland government is charging Orica Australia with breaching 279 pollution offenses in Gladstone. Under the state Environmental Protection Act, the multinational mining company is being investigated for offences relating to the release of waste water containing high levels of cyanide. Orica has said that the cyanide levels released into Gladstone Harbor are not harmful, in response to concerns about environmental damage.
