Women entering prisons are some of the most disadvantaged in our society.

Harsher law enforcement, stricter bail conditions, and heavy policing has lead to an increase in women being incarcerated with Aboriginal women representing a third of all female inmates.

Women are generally being incarcerated for lower end offenses raising calls for better community responses, more informed care and rehabilitative policies.
