Christchurch Mayor Bob Parker addressed a 20,000 strong crowd in the city’s North Hagley Park this morning in a memorial service for the 185 people who died when Christchurch was hit by a 6.3 magnitude earthquake a year ago today. It’s the same park which on February 22, 2011 was set up as a triage centre to treat the injured as hospitals overflowed. There were tears as all 185 names of the victims were read out by emergency services representatives.
