Five thousand children under 15 in remote Australia now have their own laptop computer, thanks to an innovative worldwide scheme. The ONE LAPTOP PER CHILD project distributes specially designed computers which are super cheap and very sturdy. The “XO” green laptops now cost just $200 and are being given to kids free of charge thanks to corporate and public donations. The non profit scheme has been operating internationally since 2005 but has just celebrated its second anniversary in Australia.
