Moving to a war-torn city in the Middle East might not be the dream of average Australian newlyweds. But for journalist Catherine Taylor and her husband, ABC four corners producer Mathew Carney, packing up and moving to Beirut seemed nothing out of the ordinary- despite her family worrying for her safety. During her five years in Lebanon, Catherine got to know a country that’s much more than Hezbollah and assassinations. She’s written a book about the life she made there, talking about war, being a woman in the Muslim world and giving birth in Lebanon. She started by explaining what made her and Tim decide to make the move to the Middle East.
