For the past week the media focus has been on John Howard’s credibility and trust. Leading up to the next Federal Election, the two major parties don’t actually look too different from each other – but as politics continues to get down and dirty, there are questions to be asked about the policies of each party. Rodney Smith, Senior Lecturer in Government and International Relations at the University of Sydney, says that a number of key issues will be overlooked by the major parties in the race up to the Federal election, and that while they’ll try to focus on particular issues their policies aren’t too dissimilar.
