New studies reveal that 21 per cent Australians aged 50 to 64 are dealing with the financial strains associated with the prices of prescription medicines. In a bid to save money older Aussies are skipping their medications to save money and reduce these costs. The National Seniors report, sporting these studies and statistics was presented to a Medicines Australia conference in Sydney today. Currently in Australia 18 per cent of those aged 50 to 64 who face financial strain have not filled a prescription – this compares to 6 per cent  of those aged 65 plus.
