Today the Federal Health Minister espoused his solution for improving Indigenous health “ a return to Paternalism” as the right of self – determination has not delivered healthy commmunities.But for Indigenous Australians this is a little bit of history repeating itself.Professor of Law, Larrisa Behrendt was amused at the suggestion that self determination has been tried and failed in Indigenous communities. Mr Gooda from the Cooperative Research Centre for Aboriginal Health reads this political grand standing as the Minister sherking his responsibility.
