President Obama has delivered a message to the Iranian people, one designed to set a new tone in relations between the two countries. He’s called for Iran to take its rightful place among nations, provided they fulfill a few obligations – and although he doesn’t mention it, putting a stop to their supposed nuclear weapons program is clearly one of those obligations. Obama’s administration has set the stabilization of Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan as a key goal – so a slightly more friendly relationship with Iran is likely to be in America’s interests.
