Kidney disease is endemic in Aboriginal communities and many sufferers have to travel to hospitals for dialysis treatment. For such people in the remte north of SA that used to mean a 500 kilometre trip over the border to Alice Springs. Now they have to travel 1500 kilometres to the nearest centres to the south. Local Labor member for the area Lynn Breuer says she understands that the NT has to prioritise their own patients but it’s time the South Australian government moved to alleviate the problem by setting up mobile units.
