Truck brings water to Garrawa residents, photograph provided by the Darrbarrwarra mob

Residents of the Garrawa communities outside of Borroloola in NT have been placed on notice by the Department of Health, regarding lead and manganese contamination of their water supply.

The communities are located on the McArthur River, just 70kms away from Glencore’s McArthur River Mine. The Mine has already been confronted by responsibility for the mass lead poisoning of livestock and local fauna in 2014.

This time, the local residents are pushing back.
