NT Elders are fighting back against the Federal Government’s so-called ‘Stronger Futures’ legislation which is currently before the senate. The law is the next phase of the intervention and covers areas such as health, education, housing and drug and alcohol issues in Indigenous communities.

It comes after what the Federal Government describes as wide-spread consultation with Indigenous communities. But Yolngu Elders dispute the Government’s take on the discussions and the outcomes of the talks – they’ve released a statement from eight Arnhem land nations calling for the ‘Stronger Futures’ laws to be dumped.
