Widespread starvation, child sexual abuse, homelessness and criminal activity. Three years after the Federal Government tried to take action on the social problems devastating the Indigenous community in the Northern Territory – and the picture remains much the same. Recognising the failures, a Child Protection Inquiry was announced late last year. Tasked with identifying problems within the system- it is expected to release a report in October recommending a serious shake up. Jennifer Lush spoke with Lisa Hillan from Save the Children, one of the agencies who submitted to the report.
