Preschool fees in New South Wales are increasing because of inadequate funding from the state government. That’s according to a report released by the Council of Social Services of New South Wales. The report reveals that the average preschool fees are $38.50 per day in metropolitan schools and $27.70 for rural preschools; this is an 18 per cent increase over the last three years. While the Federal Government has committed around 275 million dollars over five years to New South Wales for early childhood education, social service providers are saying there needs to be additional funding from the state government.
