NSW Planning Minister stalls on releasing mine assessment
In November last year the Wire reported on an independent hearing and assessment panel that was set up to address community concerns about the Moolaraben Coal project, the largest new coal mine planned for New South Wales. While that report has been finalized the New South Wales minister for planning Frank Sartor has said he won’t be releasing the results of the independent assessment report until after he has made the final decision on the project. The Mudgee district Environment Group and the Greens believe withholding the report is just another example of the state government’s lack of commitment to properly addressing community concerns over large projects.
