The NSW Liberal Party is staring down the barrel of disaster after failing to nominate candidates for the local council elections.

After an attempt for an extension was rejected by NSW Electoral Commission, the NSW Liberals were looking for legal advice, a move welcomed by opposition leader Mark Speakman.

In the mean time, many local councillors and candidates have been left devastated at the prospect of not being able to run for office.
