Note at post office says “No doctor for two weeks”
A note in the post office was the only way residents from the rural town of Wudinna in rural South Australia found out they wouldn’t have a doctor for two weeks. This is just another example of the problems facing the rural health sector, where a lack in GPs and locum doctors means rural towns are left without adequate medical care. President of the Rural Doctors Association of South Australia, Peter Rischbieth is attending a conference with Health Minister Tony Abbott, and is hoping to raise the plight of doctors in rural Australia. Wudinna resident, Suzanne Waters says their town has been left with the most basic medical care and finding doctors to come to the region is very difficult.
