Non-parental care found to be good for infants
A new report has found that infants who experience non-parental care have higher learning scores than those who just receive care from primary guardians. The report Growing Up in Australia: The Longitudinal Study of Australian Children today presented its findings to the Federal Government. The report found that non-parental care was good for infants aged between three and 19 months. But early early childhood educators say that children need to have meaningful contact and regular attachment figures to benefit from non-parental care. The report commissioned by the Government observed more than ten thousand families since 2004 and is supposed to help implement better child focused policies.
