World leaders have gathered in Chicago for tomorrow’s NATO summit to discuss Afghanistan’s future after the withdrawal of international troops next year. Prime Julia Gillard has pledged 300 million dollars over three years to support Afghanistan with security, trade and development after the transition. Ex-special forces Commando Nathan Mullins served as a reservist in Afghanistan’s Urzugan province. He documents his experience of leaving behind his family and his day job as a humanitarian worker in his book, ‘Keep Your Head Down’. Nathan Mullins gave The Wire his assessment of the country’s ability to cope with security after the international troop withdrawal.
