On the 13th February the Government has committed to saying sorry to the Stolen Generations. It’s something that the Aboriginal community and their supporters have been fighting for since the “Bringing Them Home” report in 1997. The study documented the systematic removal of indigenous children from their families. This practice started as early as the mid 1800s and continued until the early 1970s. The report’s aims were to outline a way to heal the wounds the removals caused. Apologizing is just one of the proposals the report makes.
