UNSW Researchers have made a major breakthrough in renewable energy technology by proving that night time solar energy can be produced. The energy, which comes from infrared light, is generated from the heat that radiates back into spaces when the weather cools down.

Although the amount of power generated at this stage is very small,  the researchers believe the result can be improved to a level where industry use it.

Associate Professor Ned Ekins-Daukes is the team leader on this project, and he is calling for greater support and investment, so that the technology can be developed.
