Since a shocking documentary about children being persecuted as witches in the Akwa Ibom region of Nigeria was aired on ABC’s Four Corners this year, Australians have rallied behind the work of one UK-based charity rescuing the children. Stepping Stones has now come to Australia to meet with the numerous support groups here. Fundraising Manager Natalie Collin came into The Wire studios earlier today. She told Clare Rawlinson that issues like poverty and lack of education have lead to ninety-five percent of the population believing it’s possible for a child to be a witch.
