Preliminary results show that the incumbent President – Goodluck Jonathon – is in front of his competitors. Observers say that despite early violence prior to the elections, the voting process has been free and fair. But for a country divided between a majority Muslim north and a majority Christian south, the final result may not be so straightforward.
