Nicaraguans went to the polls on Sunday to elect a new President, and left-wing candidate Daniel Ortega looks to have claimed victory over his right-wing opponent Eduardo Montealegre. The vote was another stage in the regional struggle between left and right, lead by the US versus Venezuela. Barry Carr Associate Professor & Director, Institute of Latin American Studies at the La trobe university, joined us live on the line to discuss the election outcome.
