Ned’s back in the media today with news that his bones have been indentified from remains found in an old prison grave at Pentridge Prison in Victoria. It has been an ongoing mystery since what was believed to be Ned Kelly’s skull was handed into the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine in 2009.

However the skull did not belong to Kelly and the location of the real skull remains unknown. The discovery of Kelly’s remains now raises the question of what to do with them – will the family be allowed a quiet burial or will a public memorial to Australia’s most loved and hated bushranger be commissioned?
