The film 2.37 has had an extraordinary amount of publicity, partly because of its difficult subject matter, youth suicide, and partly because of its young director’s claims that it was based on a real event, the suicide of one of his friends. Those claims have been contested this week with allegations that the story doesn’t check out. True or not true, Jaelee Skehan from Mindframe, an organisation that deals with how suicide is represented in the media, says she doesn’t think it’s a good film for any at-risk young person to see.
