New study shows organ donation brings comfort after a tragedy

The difficult decision regarding whether or not to donate the organs of a loved one often comes at a time of immense grief and confusion. While much is made of Australia’s low donation rate, the Organ and Tissue Authority has instead turned its attention to the experiences of family members who have already made the decision.

In a new study, they found that the process of organ and tissue donation is able to bring comfort to families, and that knowing the progress of any recipients is something extremely important to them.
