Aboriginal children are being removed from their families at almost the same rate as the Stolen Generations. A report by a peak body of indigenous child protection agencies shows that 669 children were in state care last year in Queensland. The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Child Protection Partnership are warning the Queensland Government that it could be facing many future compensation claims from displaced Aboriginal children. Director of the Partnership, Donna Klein, says many kids are coming into care because of lack of family support services.
