The Federal Goverment has long promised to overhaul cross-media laws, and a major reason is the internet. According to the goverment, the internet provides alternative news sources to the traditional three of print, television and radio. This, according to their rationale, abolishes the need for restrictions on media ownership. But a new report released by the Australia Institute disputes this.
