In April leading coral reef scientists released a report looking at the future of the Great Barrier Reef, finding not enough is being done to save the declining reef. Scientists also say the federal government’s ‘Reef 2050 Long-Term Sustainability Plan’ is inadequate and that urgent action needs to be taken to ensure damage to the reef can be reversed. They are worried about the damage that would be caused to the reef by the development of the Adani Carmichael coal mine and a failure to act on climate change.
